Youth Activities at Christ United Presbyterian Church
At Christ United Presbyterian Church, we believe in educating our youth in the Word and
providing them with age-appropriate, fun, and meaningful opportunities for fellowship
and Christian growth. We welcome all youth to worship, learn and play with us!
We offer:
Nursery care for infants and toddlers
- Loving care is provided for little ones while their parents attend service
Sunday School for ages 5-12
- Offered during 10:30 a.m. service (youth attend first part of service and go to
class after Children’s Message)
- Our “One Room Sunday School” curriculum encourages young people to work
together and assist each other in learning about the Bible and how to live God’s Word
- Our Sunday school class corresponds with a boy in Tanzania and learns about his life
- Youth return to church for communion first Sundays of every month
Sunday School for middle and high-school youth
- Meets during traditional school year before service at 9:30 a.m. so youth can
attend service
- Middle and high-school youth study the Bible and engage in thoughtful
discussion
- Confirmation curriculum offered each year
Annual Vacation Bible School week
- 2010 dates: Monday-Thursday, July 19-22, at 5:30 p.m.
- 2010 theme: Praise Party, worshipping God with heart, mind, and soul
Youth Choir
- Rehearsals at 9:30 a.m. Sundays
- Youth choir sings during service every fourth Sunday
Field Trips
- Past opportunities have included trips to Disneyland and Boomers, attendance
at San Diego Youth Ballet and Junior Theatre performances, visit to Reuben H.
Fleet Center
Service Work:
- Past opportunities have included work at Presbyterian Urban Ministries Christmas
toy drive and annual spring food drive
- During our service, older youth serve as acolytes; on selected Sundays, they may
also serve as readers and pulpit assistants
