PURPOSE OF POSITION:
To provide Christian education formation and development to the children of the church.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare lessons for a variety of age groups. Lesson planning 1-2 hours per week.
Instruct on Bible stories, church doctrine, and character building.
Include activities that encourage learning while also entertaining.
Attend monthly Christian Education meetings.
Help teach confirmation along with the Pastor up to twice a year.
Maintain a clean and orderly classroom.
Communicate with parents.
Create a curriculum that integrates the Bible with other subjects.
Recruit and oversee volunteer Sunday school workers.
Encouraged to network with other church children’s ministries.
Work to maintain a connection with children during the week.
Organize and lead special events, such as parties, picnics, and church events.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Exemplify in word and action a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and demonstrate a witness to God’s love through interactions with members, non-members, volunteers, visitors and all staff members.
Maintain a cooperative team spirit and an attitude of genuine caring for all church personnel, members, non-members, volunteers and others who associate with the church.
High school diploma/GED; college education a plus.
Excellent communication skills.
Passion for teaching and working with children.
Proven experience with children.
Excellent organizational skills.
Ability to organize and manage volunteers.
Active involvement in local church ministry.
Background check required for all adults working with children.
