    PURPOSE OF POSITION:

    To provide Christian education formation and development to the children of the church.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Prepare lessons for a variety of age groups. Lesson planning 1-2 hours per week.

    • Instruct on Bible stories, church doctrine, and character building.

    • Include activities that encourage learning while also entertaining.

    • Attend monthly Christian Education meetings.

    • Help teach confirmation along with the Pastor up to twice a year.

    • Maintain a clean and orderly classroom.

    • Communicate with parents.

    • Create a curriculum that integrates the Bible with other subjects.

    • Recruit and oversee volunteer Sunday school workers.

    • Encouraged to network with other church children’s ministries.

    • Work to maintain a connection with children during the week.

    • Organize and lead special events, such as parties, picnics, and church events.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

    • Exemplify in word and action a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and demonstrate a witness to God’s love through interactions with members, non-members, volunteers, visitors and all staff members.

    • Maintain a cooperative team spirit and an attitude of genuine caring for all church personnel, members, non-members, volunteers and others who associate with the church.

    • High school diploma/GED; college education a plus.

    • Excellent communication skills.

    • Passion for teaching and working with children.

    • Proven experience with children.

    • Excellent organizational skills.

    • Ability to organize and manage volunteers.

    • Active involvement in local church ministry.

    • Background check required for all adults working with children.
